There will be a third person in the video conference call with the other two people. The third person is a translator who knows how to speak both of their languages.
The video interpreter is the person who will verbally communicate each person’s message to one another on the video conference call.
Technology
Use our simple scheduling system for the video interpretation sessions with our professional translators. Our system is enabled with Texting, so you can address private issues to our interpreters during the session.
No equipment is necessary. You can use your computer with camera, iPad or mobile phone.
You can also view in your device Real-Time Automatic Accounting, Tracking, Usage Data, Service-Level Data and Call Data.
The minimum quality of your video camera should be 1080p high-resolution. You’ll also want a decent headset with microphone that doesn’t pick up a lot of background noises. If you have the latest Android or iOS mobile device, then it should come with a good enough microphone built into it. But for your laptop computer, you might want to purchase a separate headset with microphone and plug that into the computer with a USB cable.
When using the interpreting services known as “Video Remote Interpreting (VRI),” a video conference meeting is conducted with one or more interpreters who are in different locations than you. There are many settings and industries right now which use Video Remote Interpreting Services, such as healthcare, legal, medical, hospitals, educational, government and service companies.
Every Video Conference session that is successful has a qualified or certified foreign language translator or a sign language interpreter who is experienced in linguistics and obeys the professional standards set forth in the interpreting field. The advantages and disadvantages of Video Remote Interpreting (VRI) are understood in these sessions. There is also equipment training, beneficial environmental controls, protocols for video conferencing, and protocols for online meeting preparation.
Each person will need to have a laptop or mobile device with or without video communication software on it, such as Skype. They will use the software to conduct a video conference call with each other. Make sure your hardware includes a camera and a microphone. Then, of course, a high-speed internet connection must be available to transmit the communication. Cable or Wi-Fi internet connections should work just fine.
Your Success. Our Mission.
If one of the callers is deaf and cannot speak at all, then a translator with a certification in sign language will translate the sign language to the other person’s spoken language and vice versa. When the video conference call is arranged with the interpretation service provider, they will assign an interpreter to your video call who possesses the necessary language skills that are needed.
Multiple Industries
Sometimes it is not enough to find an interpreter who knows how to speak two different languages. If you need to convey complex terminologies, such as business language or medical language, then your average translator won’t know how to interpret those complex terms. You will need to find an interpreter who has a proficiency in that specific terminology as well.
The Languagers platform gives you access to such interpreters as well. For instance, if you speak English and need to talk to a medical specialist in Mexico who only speaks Spanish, then you would need to find a translator with knowledge of medical terminology and of the Spanish and English languages.
Normally, it would be difficult to find someone to do this service in-person at your location, but once again, the global reach of the Languagers platform allows you to find such qualified interpreters easily. There are translators with knowledge of complex words from various industries, including government, insurance, healthcare, medical, business, and education.
The Cost
Video remote interpreters charge a per-minute rate for their services. Their rates are fairly low and affordable because they’re not required to travel anywhere to perform the service. If you only need to talk to someone for five or ten minutes, then it should be very affordable for your budget.
Confidentiality
Every interpreter signs a confidentiality agreement, which means they will keep the details of your conversation a secret. This is important if you’re talking to a doctor about private information concerning your health or a lawyer about your legal case.
It is about time.
